Do you scream for Scream movies? How about Scream movies that bring back the original trio from the first film—Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette? If so, you must be squealing with joy in anticipation of the fifth Scream feature, which is still just called Scream and not Scream 5 or something else to delineate it from the 1996 film.
This Scream, which is still planning to come out in theaters on January 14, 2022, is also bringing Campbell, Cox, and Arquette’s characters back to the horror-filled town of Woodsboro. In order to commemorate the occasion and/or promote the upcoming film, Paramount Pictures released a nice little featurette that has the three actors sharing what it was like for them to come back to the franchise.
In this short-but-terrifyingly-sweet featurette, we get a behind-the-scenes look of the shoot, including interviews with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gilett as well as the three aforementioned actors.
“I read the script, and it was quick, and sharp, and funny, and scary,” says Campbell. “This feels like the first Scream.” The actors then go along to complement each other, with Arquette saying he’s excited to see Campbell’s character come back and “be this badass.”
As for Arquette’s character, the oft-beaten-up Dewey, Campbell teases that we’ll see a lot of the former sheriff in the film, and that his character has quite a journey as the story progresses.
“It’s fun to get into it again,” Cox says at the end of the featurette before promising that the movie is “really scary.”
You can see the second movie titled Scream, which is really the fifth Scream movie, next week when it slashes its way into theaters on Friday, January 14, 2022.
